| Project Scope: | The "Hire & Train Program" is a pivotal initiative under the EDGE project, orchestrated by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) with financial support from the International Development Association (IDA). This program focuses on equipping Bangladeshi youth with critical skills in IT and IT-enabled Services (IT-ITES) sector. The program's overarching objective is to enhance employability, foster job creation, and increase the revenue potential of IT industry firms by developing a robust talent pool. The program is executed in collaboration with the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), Dhaka University, which is responsible for supervising, evaluating, and managing the initiative in alignment with EDGE's objectives. As part of the program, a strategic "Hire and Train" model is employed, ensuring seamless job placement for trainees and practical skill enhancement through structured training. A significant emphasis is placed on inclusivity, mandating that at least 30% of trainees are female and that 80% of trained individuals are retained in employment for at least six months. The training includes a comprehensive 180-hour curriculum covering core IoT technologies, project-based learning, and soft skills development to ensure holistic professional readiness. |
